New Pumper Truck to Serve Britannia and Furry Creek!

Lance Iverson, Fire Chief at Britannia Beach poses with the new HUB pumper truck!

Great news for residents of Britannia Beach and Furry Creek! A brand new, made in BC, HUB Fire Engine is slated to arrive in the coming weeks and will provide much needed quick response and a greater capacity for the Britannia Beach Fire Department to respond to future events in the area.

This aquisition was made possible after residents of Britannia beach and Furry Creek voted overwhelmingly in support of the establishment of the Howe Sound East Fire Protection Association. A referendum was held last fall.

What this means is the Britannia Beach volunteer fire department, led by Fire Chief Lance Iverson and his team of 16 volunteers, (including 4 female members), will be able to respond to fire incidents at Furry Creek. This new service will continue to be supported by Squamish Fire Services and will result in much shorter response times in the event of a fire.
Furry Creek residents should be able to look forward to reduced fire insurance rates as a result.

The new truck will be housed temporarily next to the existing Britannia Fire Hall until a new Public Safety and Fire Hall building is constructed, proposed as part of the new Britannia Beach Town Site planned for later in 2009. The Howe Sound East Fire Protection Association will also serve the future Porteau Cove development, just south of Furry Creek.
